What is BUSHIN RYU AIKI BUJUTSU?

Bushin, when translated from the Japanese, means “authentic war”. Ryu means school and denotes “studies”. So Bushin Ryu simply means an authentic school of classical war studies. It is our firm conviction that in order to truly understand peace, one must deeply explore conflict. No one-sided study can be complete.

The Aiki Martial Arts

At the Budo Shingikan Dojo, we invite you to join us in the study of the Aiki martial arts. Broadly, the martial arts world is divided between styles that are “hard”- meaning those focused on the development and application of one’s own physical power in technique, and “soft” – meaning those focused on the strategic use of the opponent’s power against him/her in technique.

The Aiki Arts fall into the “soft” category. You will often see soft written with quotations because so-called soft styles have the same potential for devastating power. The approach to power however is quite different.

To understand Bushin Ryu Aiki Bujutsu Martial Arts and its benefits, it must be said that as a traditional Japanese martial art, Bushin Ryu Aiki Bujutsu is more than simply an efficient method of self-defense. It is a form of Budo – a “martial way”. The word ‘DO’ in Japanese is the same as the Chinese word tao. It denotes a path of understanding, a way of life, and the Way of the universe itself.

Multiple Disciplines for complete training

There will always be someone stronger or faster than you. Why not study a marital art that relies on neither strength nor speed to be effective?

At the Budo Shingikan, we study a martial system, rather than a single martial art. We believe that no single martial art can be comprehensive enough to really make a person confident in their self-defense abilities.

This is why, our founder, Dedeuc D’Antonoli, has combined the best aspects of numerous arts in order to create a comprehensive system. Drawing upon his more than 25 years’ experience with a variety of traditional and modern martial arts, he created an extraordinary system for both self-defense and personal development.

Elements of the following classical martial arts comprise the Bushin Ryu Martial System:

Aiki Jujutsu

Aikido

Karate

Hapkido

Ninjutsu

Kobujutsu

Japanese Classical Weapons Training

Jujutsu

aka Jiu-jitsu

samurai

samurai is more than style & technique

Importantly, the final component is “Tetsugaku” – the philosophy and key intellectual discipline that underlies the physical aspects of the system.
Bushin Ryu Aiki Bujutsu has its roots in Japan’s distant past. These are the arts of the feared Samurai, who blended what many believe to be the most highly refined martial skills in human history with a deep appreciation of the beauty of life. During Japan’s long periods of civil war, a Samurai’s mastery of the martial arts meant the difference between life and death on the battlefield. And yet, they cultivated a profoundly still mind through their spiritual pursuits. There is much that we in the modern age can learn from their determination.

Today, we are the beneficiaries of many centuries of martial arts refinement. The skills that have been passed down to us have been battle-tested to such an extent that there is no doubt as to their effectiveness for self-defense. But skill in technique is only a small part of becoming a true warrior.

The path of Bushin Ryu is one of continual personal challenge – how can we be better people today than we were yesterday? Kaiso D’Antonoli, the rest of the teaching staff, and all the students at the Budo Shingikan are committed to helping people become the very best they can be.
